Select File Dialog
To open a file, DeltaWalker Classic uses the native file dialog of your operating system, so it looks and works the way you are used to. Should you need help with the dialog itself, consult your operating system’s help.
On Windows, DeltaWalker Classic adds two choosers to the bottom of the dialog: the character encoding and the line ending to open the file with. On macOS and Linux the dialog has no such additions; open the file first, then change its encoding with Reopen with Encoding… and its line endings with File > Convert Line Endings To.
Character Encoding
By default, DeltaWalker Classic detects the character encoding of a file (Auto-detect). Some encodings, however, are difficult or practically impossible to detect. When you know the encoding of the file you are about to compare, choose it in the Encoding chooser. Choose Encodings to pick a character set, or Languages to pick a language.
Other places where you can change the character encoding of a file are the Select Character Encoding dialog and the Save File dialog.

Line Endings
The Line ending chooser sets the line endings (line delimiters) to open the file with. By default, Leave as is keeps the file’s line endings unchanged. Other places where you can change line endings are the File > Convert Line Endings To submenu and the Save File dialog.

Click the 
button at the right end of the path entry field, or click the arrow next to it and choose Open Local File….
Keyboard Shortcut
Cmd+O, or File > Open…, when a file or folder comparison window is active. It opens the Select File dialog for the side that has the input focus, or the Select Remote File dialog when that side shows a remote file or you last opened a remote one.
Drag and Drop
Drag a file from your file manager and drop it onto a path entry field or onto one of the content areas.
